Los Angeles’ cooking star opens his kitchen’s doors to share his vision of marijuana, one shaped between science and the stove. The Herbal Chef innovates in each dish, merging haute cuisine and cannabis. We invite you to sit at his table.

Herbal Chef Restaurant, in Los Angeles, California, is open since 2014. In the beginning, only medicinal marijuana card holding members could taste its menu. Now, after several changes in weed’s legal status in that State, Chris Sayegh’s business, which mixes haute cuisine and our favourite plant, is on the rise. Viewed as a model by other similar companies, Sayegh creates flavour combinations, “infused” or “non-infused”, to offer his customers the ultimate culinary experience.

Weed, the currency of the future

After the arrival of Bitcoin in January 2009, digital currencies caused an earthquake that has shaken the foundations of trade markets and traditional economy. The possibility of using a virtual currency in transactions worth millions of dollars opens the door for a whole range of opportunities. One of them is organizing a real “marijuana bank”.

The goal of electronic currencies based in marijuana is to serve the more than $100 million that legal weed generates. But how does something like that work?

Pest preventing treatment for our crops

In this article we will focus on how to prevent pests in our crop. And how important it is to dedicate some minutes to strengthen the immune system in our plants.

Pests are one of the worst fears of any grower. In a matter of a few days, a pest of several hundreds of individuals can become a pest of millions, dancing around and fiercely devouring the crop. We are going to discuss what products can be used and explain a couple of tricks to prevent all that from happening. Surely you heard the old say “prevention is better than cure” more than once when you were a kid. Well, it could not be more appropriate in this case.

We, the “general public”, tend to associate cannabis with its main and most famous compounds with pharmacologic effect, THC and CBD, and with their most characteristic effects like hunger, drowsiness, and some other brain-level effects more complex to define. In other spheres, forensic for instance, they have been discussing THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin) since the year 2000, as a marker to determine if the presence of THC in biological samples came from the consumption of drugs like Sativex or, otherwise, from the consumption of cannabis.

Is this about cannabis, about health or about personal freedom?

Is this about cannabis, about health or about personal freedom?

There seems to be some motion in terms of legislative changes regarding cannabis. Good news… or not, we will have to wait and see how it turns out. The prohibition crowd seems keen to accept a new drug in their “good drugs” group. Sounds like something to be glad about, but it might turn into a disaster. Not only for the movement against prohibition. We might be facing a huge mistake that could affect the medicine and public health areas.

When cannabis is mentioned as the only drug that deserves to be legalized (again), that’s the same old obtuse and stubborn prohibition mentality, the one that claims that we should only be allowed to consume certain drugs, randomly chosen.

La cosecha

After about three months indoors or some long six months outdoors, the time has come to reap the fruit of our work. After a vegetation period during which we gave shape to our plants, fought the springtime plagues and used fertilizers to fight the shortages that appeared, flowering is finally about to come to an end.

Daya Foundation

Cannabis.es took the opportunity this summer to travel to Santiago de Chile and talk to the Daya Foundation people, the first therapeutic centre specialized in cannabis solutions in all of Latin America. They are also pioneers in the struggle for regulation of cannabis in Chile. Daya in Sanskrit means “compassionate love” and it is precisely this vision that is key to their success: a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of their patients and the conviction to fight human suffering. And, also, the desire to clear the name of the plant.

Madres coraje de Peru

The struggle of a group of mothers has revived the debate on drug legalization in Peru. The mothers, organized in the association “Buscando Esperanza” (“Searching for Hope”), have brought about institutional measures in favour of medical cannabis. The association is formed by mothers of children ailed with chronic neurological illnesses and aims for regulation of marijuana with medical purposes as well as promoting homegrowing.
